GlossyBox: Be Mine: February 2014

February 2014 Glossy Box

My February Glossy Box (GB) has arrived! This months theme is centre around Valentines Day though it did arrive after the 14th February.

The contents inside this months Glossy Box

Ciate London Paint Pot. Shade “Cocktail Dress”. Full Size Product 13.5ML
I’ve heard so many great things about Ciate nail products. It’s a really good cult nail brand but I’ve always thought their products were pricey. I’ve giving in a quick run through and I am impressed with the formula. It leaves a nice, clean, glossy finish.
Full Size £9 for 13.5ML – its ok. Good quality for your money.

Nougat London Sparkling Body Shimmer. Sample Size 100ML
GB has highlighted this as a British product. Love the sound of this product. It’s designed to add radiance and a healthy glow to your skin. The consistency is really running so be careful using this product. I remember a Vaseline body moisture product I used in my teens during the summer months to help me look more glowing. I will be saving this one until then. Great smell to.
Full Size is £14 for 250ML – which I do think it’s a little on the expensive side.

Giovanni Eco Chic Ultra Moist Range: Sample Size Shampoo and Conditioner 1x 7.4 ml and Deep Conditioning Mask 1x 10.35ML
Apparently, Giovanni is the number 1 selling natural hair care brand in the US. This is the first time I have heard of this brand but I am keen to try out their products. I like the natural element to products like these. It contains Moroccan argan oil, avocado and papaya. I can’t wait to try them.

Full Size: Shampoo and Conditioner £7.99 for 251ML.

NV Chucky Eye Crayon in Sugar Plum. Full Product Size
This is the first time I have heard of NV make. In the past, I have never been a fan of eye crayons. My eye lids are too oily for products like this and they don’t stay. The products does say it provides a ‘silky smooth and crease – free’ finish. However, I do like the packaging and everything else about this product – so I might take a take on their website to browse around. I will give it a try though. Always an optimist!
Full Size £5 for 4g – not a bad price range!

Maybelline New York. Bug Eyes Mascara. Full Size 5ml in Noir
This is Maybelline’s first double brush mascara with a brush for upper and lower eye lashes. I like this concept. But, my first impressions are a little underwhelming. It does give you more length rather than volume but it’s not a mascara I would come back to. I liked the lower lash brush as it did separate my lashes without looking like a porcelain doll. Not as “dramatic” as I’d like.
Full Size: £8.99 – standard drug store price.

Lindt Treat Bar Full Size.
I am probably going to get shot down for this, but I think I’m the only person in the world that does not like Lindt chocolate. But, thanks for trying GB!!!
Available at most supermarkets and convenience stores.

Glossy Box; September; London Edition

This month I re-subscribed to Glossy box after a beauty budget cut down. I got so excited that I turned to Instagram to share my opening experience. As soon as Glossy Box announced it's London Edition box,  I knew I had to come back and take part. And, I'm pleased I did.

The box itself and the packaging represents British colours of the union Jack: red, blue and white.

The contents of my box:

Elizabeth Arden: Untold Eau De Parfum
Elizabeth Arden definitely represents a British beauty classic. For years, I've been a fan of products such as the 8 hour moisturising balm though I have not purchased perfumes from the Elizabeth Arden range before. As described by Glossy Box, it's a luxurious, floral fragrance that is fresh and feminine. Unlike some other perfumes sent from Glossybox, I am partial to wearing this and may even invest in a cheeky little bottle.

Full size £48 for 50ML

Eylure Pre Glued Lashes
I have used varies different types of Eylure lashes before but I have always felt skeptical about products that are 'pre-glued' or self-adhesive. Duno why? Perhaps, its with my lack of success with pre-glued, 'stick on nails' that placed doubt in my mind. However, gone is my trepidation. Last night, I decided to give these a trial. And oh yes, these bad boys have amazing staying on. The only problem is, they did irritate my eyes slightly so I could not keep them on all night. But they are a 4/5 for me

One set £5.06

Tony and Guy Shine Glass Serum
Recently, I had about 4 inches chopped of my locks in order to revive some life into. Sure enough, my hair has become healthier showing some signs of strength and shine. However, I want more. I want shiny, glossy, Nicole Scherzinger kind of shine. So, I'm hoping this will give me what I need.

Full sized retails at £7.19

be a...bombshell Onyx Eye Liner
It is the first time I have come across 'be a bombshell' products. and I have to say, this is a great eye liner and offers enough precision to achieve a fine line and bold, thick definition depending on your preference. You definitely want to use a good eye make up remover to shift this stuff off. The longevity lasts almost 6/7 hours on my oily eyelids so I have faith it this little number.

Full size $14

Dr.Lipp Nipple Balm for Lips
This is probably the most disappointing product I received. But, that is not to say I do not like it. It because I'm slightly jealous of those that got all of the above products, plus the HB Brows kit. I have been after one of those for ages!! Nevertheless, I love anything with moisture. Indeed, I had a chuckle when I read 'nipple' and thought, why is Glossy box sending my nipple balm? Then I realised how much of a beauty cult product this is. Originally recommended by Midwives from breastfeeding, it claims to moisturise skin by upto 40%. I might keep this in my handbag over winter as my lips become really dry.

Fully Size (15ml) retails at £11.50

I would love to hear the feedback from you guys. It's not too late to pick one of these boxes up from Glossy Box themselves though availability is obviously limited.

Palmer's Cocoa Butter Formula Original Lip Balm

I picked this little beauty up at Leeds/ Bradford Airport just before my break away to France. To be honest, I didn't particularly look at what other brands were in front of me at the time, I just picked the cheapest one up.

By far, this has become my favourite lip balm of all time and I prefer to wear this than any other lip product at the moment. Why? Because it's so nourishing that it left my lips really soft and subtle.
Safe to say, with the help of good o' Vitamin E, it definitely moisutrisers to the max helping to prevent dry, chapped lips. The cocoa butter formula soothes and softens lips, and helps to protect and hydrate.

Excellent handy size to carry about in your handbag and with it's added SPF 15 makes it beneficial to wear in sunlight to protect you lips from harmful rays. It smells gorgeous and is actually helping my chocolate craving somewhat!!

For £1.26 on offer at Superdrug you cannot go wrong. I am going to continue using this right through the year as we will be heading to Autumn in the next few months. I must recommend to everyone!

Give it a try! Have you used any other products from the Palmers Range?

September Glossybox

After 3 months of unsubscribing from Glossybox I’ve decided to rejoined the beauty craze. This time I subscribed to the September box after reading so many great reviews about the quality of products in this months box. Sold! Since my last visit, I was pleased to see that Glossybox have updated the website with new style and format to their site. Love it! It’s cleaner and easier to navigate with quick links to stuff you really need to know. Thumbs up so far.
This post won’t be about reviewing the box or products themselves but just to show a glimpse what items I received in this months box.

The box is focused around ‘rising stars’ in beauty right now. Geared up towards London Fashion Week, Glossybox has asked an ‘up and coming’ illustrator Maggi Li to create a theme around fashion and beauty. I really like the simpleness to the designs. When I opened package I was happy to see an exclusive designed box that’s different from previous ‘exclusive’ box.

The Products
  • balanceMe Wonder Eye Cream
  • Maghrabian Hair Oil Treatment
  • Vichy Idealia Day Care Cream
  • Rodial Glamoxy Snake Serum x2 1ml and 5 minute facial x2 1ml
  • Lady Gaga Fame Perfume 2ml
One of the reasons why I unsubscribed from Glossybox wasn’t due to the standard of products, but the lack of consideration for the suitability of products for me. Although I am pleased with the quality of products, I’m still slightly annoyed. Why? Because why would I want to use ‘snake serum’ at 23 years of age? Why send me a moisturiser for normal/ combination skin when I told them I had dry/ sensitive skin?? Grrrr! Still not getting somethings right.
However, I am excited to try the Maghrabian hair oil and the Rodial 5 minute facial. Both  brands I have never come across before. With the central heating being cranked up and cold weather setting in my hair could do with a treatment right now so this has been timed nicely. In addition, I’ve just had a quick sniff of the Lady Gaga perfume which is growing on me. It’s a sweet, floral fragrance that’s heavy. Definitely a going out perfume. All products will be reviewed at a later date.
I’m always open to try new products. That’s the whole point of subscribing to beauty boxes. I like the concept and it’s encouraging for the beauty market. So, I will keep going and hopefully they will, as promised, try harder to tailer boxes. I’m not naive to think that every product in the box would be right first time but I would of preferred the hair care products that were also on offer. Again, I know it’s also down to the availability of each product but if I’m going to spend £12.95 per month on this subscription, I’d like to at be able to try the product rather then passing it onto someone else. Hmmmm, food for thought.
