Tigi Bed Head Urban AntiDotes Level 2 Review

The Urban Antidotes range is divided into three different levels depending on your hair type: Re-energize, Recovery and Resurrection. Choosing which one suited me was sheer luck. Originally, my lovely Steven had bought me some as a Christmas present about 2 yeas ago from a hair salon. He explained my hair type and they recommended Level 2: Recovery.

I love the tongue and cheek descriptions. "You've Dyed. You've Fried. So take your dull hair to the bright side. Help moisture deprived hair to the ultimate recovery". My hair is slightly on the damaged side due to the years of dying and straightening, though I don't do both regularly. It's mainly damaged due to blow drying. As a result, its weaker and dryer on the ends.

He did good. I liked it so much that recently I repurchased in these massive 750ml bottles from TK Maxx for around £17.99. And, they come with a handy pumps.

Shampoos and conditioners cannot "recover" hair back to it's healthy state without getting a good chop. However, this stuff has seriously improved the condition on my hair. I can safely say that I have noticed the different in texture and softness. It looks shinier and behaves when I'm brush it.

The shampoo is great. The gentle surfactants cleanse hair while the conditioning agents soften and protect it against losing moisture. So rather than that squeaky clean feeling that leaves your hair in knots, it's more manageable.

I am in love with the conditioner. The consistency is a rich, creamy formula that is also strong enough to use as a deep conditioner. When I'm rinsing my hair, it feels so smooth and tangle free! It does not weigh hair down and leave it feeling greasy. This is a definite thumbs up for me!

Thesmell great! I don't know what the scent is - because it doesn't say. I would guess that it's a sweet citrus smell.

Overall verdict: Fabulous! These products are effective when used together. They do exactly that they say on the bottles.  Since using them, I have received many compliments on how healthy and shiny it looks. That's got to be a good testament to how good these are! They will not fully repair any damaged caused by over processing hair, but my god, they feel much better after using them!

GlossyBox: Be Mine: February 2014

February 2014 Glossy Box

My February Glossy Box (GB) has arrived! This months theme is centre around Valentines Day though it did arrive after the 14th February.

The contents inside this months Glossy Box

Ciate London Paint Pot. Shade “Cocktail Dress”. Full Size Product 13.5ML
I’ve heard so many great things about Ciate nail products. It’s a really good cult nail brand but I’ve always thought their products were pricey. I’ve giving in a quick run through and I am impressed with the formula. It leaves a nice, clean, glossy finish.
Full Size £9 for 13.5ML – its ok. Good quality for your money.

Nougat London Sparkling Body Shimmer. Sample Size 100ML
GB has highlighted this as a British product. Love the sound of this product. It’s designed to add radiance and a healthy glow to your skin. The consistency is really running so be careful using this product. I remember a Vaseline body moisture product I used in my teens during the summer months to help me look more glowing. I will be saving this one until then. Great smell to.
Full Size is £14 for 250ML – which I do think it’s a little on the expensive side.

Giovanni Eco Chic Ultra Moist Range: Sample Size Shampoo and Conditioner 1x 7.4 ml and Deep Conditioning Mask 1x 10.35ML
Apparently, Giovanni is the number 1 selling natural hair care brand in the US. This is the first time I have heard of this brand but I am keen to try out their products. I like the natural element to products like these. It contains Moroccan argan oil, avocado and papaya. I can’t wait to try them.

Full Size: Shampoo and Conditioner £7.99 for 251ML.

NV Chucky Eye Crayon in Sugar Plum. Full Product Size
This is the first time I have heard of NV make. In the past, I have never been a fan of eye crayons. My eye lids are too oily for products like this and they don’t stay. The products does say it provides a ‘silky smooth and crease – free’ finish. However, I do like the packaging and everything else about this product – so I might take a take on their website to browse around. I will give it a try though. Always an optimist!
Full Size £5 for 4g – not a bad price range!

Maybelline New York. Bug Eyes Mascara. Full Size 5ml in Noir
This is Maybelline’s first double brush mascara with a brush for upper and lower eye lashes. I like this concept. But, my first impressions are a little underwhelming. It does give you more length rather than volume but it’s not a mascara I would come back to. I liked the lower lash brush as it did separate my lashes without looking like a porcelain doll. Not as “dramatic” as I’d like.
Full Size: £8.99 – standard drug store price.

Lindt Treat Bar Full Size.
I am probably going to get shot down for this, but I think I’m the only person in the world that does not like Lindt chocolate. But, thanks for trying GB!!!
Available at most supermarkets and convenience stores.

Aussie Mega Shampoo and Conditioner Review

Working on a tight budget for the passed acouple of months hasn't been as bad as I thought it would. Though, I keep seeing dealing on Feelunique.com for premium brands and I'm using all my will power not to indulge. I've been spending less time online and more time back in the shops looking for deals so I can stick to my monthly budget.

Kudos to Superdrug for the deals recently! I picked up these Aussie products for around a fiver which I thought was a super bargain.

This stuff is awesome! That's all you need to know. Take my word for it!

I've had these products for almost 3 weeks and I'm extremely impressed with how well they have worked with my hair. It does exactly what it says on the bottle. They aimed to break down product build up and throughly cleanse you hair, scalp - the full monty in one wash. Yes, it's clarifying enough to do so. It turns knotty, tried up hair into smooth and glossy locks. It gets it squeaky clean with drying it out.

Best results for hair after a night out - gets all that grubby feeling hair spray out!!

It smells great too. It has a strong, sweet fruity smell that becomes addictive after awhile. It reminds me of that smell when you first open a packet of Haribo. Ah Ma Zing!

Both the shampoo and conditioner are quite quick so you do not need to be too generous with the quantity (will also make it last longer) :P

There's no doubt that I would recommend this to all my friends and family. I've used this every other day on my hair and it's given it some life again!

Dove Damage Therapy Colour Radiance Shampoo & Conditioner Review

For the majority of my life, I have been a massive fan of the skincare products from Dove.  My Mum absolutely raves about Dove and she swears by Dove soap for everything beauty related.  So since growing up, it’s always been in my life one way or another.

Dove expended their range years ago to hair care products and it’s only in the past two years that I’ve slowly worked my way though. I’ve tried almost every single shampoo and conditioner but never really blogged about them until now or one in particular.

So, on my weekly food shop, I ended up browsing down the toiletry ails and I bought the Dove Damage Therapy Colour Radiance Shampoo & Conditioner.  They just happened to fall into my trolley – honest! ASDA had a good 2 for £3 deal (for 2x350ml) and I needed to try them out.

Now, given the success of the other ranges I’d used (intensive repair was the best), I am bitterly disappointed to report that this did not meet my expectations. If fact, I am close to binning the rest of the bottles. I hate wasting products, but this has not worked for me at all.

You don’t need much of the shampoo – I’d say no more than 2p sized as it lathers up nicely. However, when I rinsed this out of my hair, it left is extremely knotty and oily feeling. At first, I’d convinced myself that I hadn’t washed it all out so I spent a good 5 minutes under the showerhead.  It felt like a greasy film all over my hair.

I continued on to use the conditioner, applying it to the ends of my hair and left for a good 5 minutes. As my hair is frequently coloured I like to leave the product on longer. Then rinsed, and rinsed and rinsed, and rinsed…

After drying my hair it felt awful. It looked greasy, flat at my roots and frizzy on the ends. No matter how I tried, I couldn’t get any volume going and it would become greasy the next day.

I’ve repeated this process for about two weeks and ended up with the same results. I’ve tried using less conditioner, more conditioner, more shampoo and so on but it just didn’t get on with my hair.

I am very disappointed. In future, I will stick to using the Intensive Repair from the Dove Shampoo and Conditioner. It wont put me off trying other Dove products but I don’t think I will  be recommending this.
